Bobby Lea succeeds in CAS appeal
Morgan Sports Law acts for Bobby Lea in his successful appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
Summary
CAS 2016/A/4371 Robert Lea v. United States Anti-Doping Agency (“USADA”)
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (“CAS”) has partially upheld Bobby Lea’s appeal against the decision of the American Arbitration Association (the “AAA”). Bobby Lea is a two-time Olympian, and considered the USA’s best hope of a track cycling medal at the 2016 Olympics.
The CAS Panel reduced the 16-month ban imposed by the AAA (which would have ruled Mr Lea out of the 2016 Olympics) to 6 months, meaning that Mr Lea is free to compete as of 10 March 2016, and therefore free to compete at the 2016 Olympics.
Mike Morgan and Richard Martin of Morgan Sports Law acted for Mr Lea in his expedited appeal to the CAS, alongside Mr Lea’s California-based lawyer, Howard Jacobs.
