Morgan Sports Law successfully acts for professional boxer Conor Benn in his defence of anti-doping charge brought by UK Anti-Doping.

Summary

In 2022, Mr Benn was notified of alleged positive tests for a banned substance following his provision of anti-doping urine samples to the Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency.

Mr Benn has always maintained that he has never knowingly or deliberately taken any banned substances.

In February 2023, the World Boxing Council (the “WBC”) cleared Mr Benn of any wrongdoing.

However, in March 2023, UK Anti-Doping (“UKAD”) charged Mr Benn with an anti-doping rule violation (“ADRV”).

A hearing was held by the National Anti-Doping Panel (“NADP”) between 17 – 22 October 2024, before an experienced tribunal comprised of a former Judge of the Court of Appeal, a KC, and an experienced Professor of Medicine.

The tribunal has today confirmed that UK Anti-Doping’s charge against Mr Benn has been dismissed, such that Mr Benn has no case to answer and will face no sanction.

The provisional suspension that had been imposed on Mr Benn by UK Anti-Doping has been lifted with immediate effect, such that Mr Benn is now free to fight.

Mr Benn was represented by Mike Morgan, Tom Seamer, Ben Cisneros and Sam Comb.
