Jesse Morgan wins BAT claim

US basketball player, Jesse Morgan, has been awarded compensation from his former club, Amis du Basketball Contern (the “Club”), after a successful breach of contract claim before the Basketball Arbitral Tribunal (the “BAT”).

In February 2020, the Luxembourg-based Club terminated Mr Morgan’s playing contract after he sustained an injury during a basketball game.

Accordingly, in April 2020, Mr Morgan launched a claim with the BAT for breach of contract.

On 25 September 2020, the BAT issued its award, ordering the Club to pay Mr Morgan compensation for his salary as well as housing costs and legal fees.

Mr Morgan was represented in the BAT proceedings by William Sternheimer (Partner) and Emma Waters (Associate).
