Wasps women succeed in employment tribunal claim

Wasps Holdings Limited, the operating company of Wasps Rugby, entered administration on 17 October 2022 and made 167 employees (including all of its players) redundant with immediate effect.

Through our continuing partnership with The Women’s Rugby Association, Morgan Sports Law was instructed by several former Wasps Women’s players to bring Employment Tribunal proceedings in relation to their redundancy.

On 21 July 2023, the Employment Tribunal issued judgment in the players’ favour, awarding them (i) damages for wrongful dismissal, and (ii) the highest possible protective award in respect of the club’s failure to consult employees prior to making the redundancies.
