Associate

Ellen joined Morgan Sports Law as a paralegal in September 2019 and became an Associate in September 2023.

Ellen works in disputes across the firm, with particular expertise in equestrian matters. Ellen regularly advises on compliance with the FEI rules and represents equestrian athletes, officials, and other clients in proceedings before the FEI Tribunal and the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Ellen speaks French, German and Spanish and holds a master’s degree in foreign languages.

Ellen has experience in the following equestrian matters:

  • Acting for athletes in equine and human anti-doping proceedings
  • Representing FEI officials in appeals against FEI sanctions / decisions
  • Representing a national federation in its appeal against an FEI sanction
  • Advising an equestrian business on compliance with national and international sports rules
  • Advising FEI athletes and officials on safeguarding matters
  • Drafting horse sale and purchase agreements

Outside of equestrian, Ellen has experience in various other sports-related matters, including:

  • Representing a basketball player in a contractual dispute before the Basketball Arbitral Tribunal
  • Acting for individuals and clubs in various CAS appeals against their national football federation
  • Representing football players in various contractual disputes before CAS and the FIFA dispute resolution chamber (non-payment of salary, compensation for breach of contract)
  • Advising triathletes on race sanctions and compliance with sports rules

Ellen is praised for her "professional and caring manner", for going "above and beyond" and for explaining everything "clearly and concisely throughout the entire process".
