Summary
On 5 - 7 October 2018, Canadian showjumper Mario Deslauriers competed in the CSIO5* - NC Final, in Barcelona, Spain, on his horse BARDOLINA 2.
A sample taken from BARDOLINA 2 revealed the presence of O-Desmethylvenlafaxine (“ODMV”), a Banned Substance on the FEI Prohibited Substances List.
Following evidence and submissions presented on behalf of Mr Deslauriers, the FEI and FEI Tribunal accepted that Mr Deslauriers operates exemplary stable procedures and that he was not at fault for the positive test.
Mr Deslauriers will therefore not face any further consequences and is free to continue competing without restriction.
Lisa Lazarus of Morgan Sports Law acted for Mr Deslauriers, working in partnership with his Canadian-based attorney, Peter Howard.
